Rolls-Royce Museum, Automobile museum in Dornbirn, Austria.
The Rolls-Royce Museum in Altenrhein is an automobile museum that displays over 1000 objects and around 70 vehicles from its collection. The exhibits document the complete history of the manufacturer from its beginnings to the present day.
The collection was founded in 1982 through the initiative of Franz Vonier and was initially housed in a former textile factory. The museum first opened to visitors in 1999 and later relocated to its current location in Altenrhein.
The museum displays vehicles that once belonged to royalty, nobility, and prominent figures, showing how they were woven into the lives of the wealthy and powerful. The automobiles reflect how craftsmanship and luxury were understood across different eras.
The museum is now located in Altenrhein, approximately 25 minutes from Dornbirn, and can be reached by car, train, or bus. Plan enough time to properly explore the extensive collection on display.
A special treasure in the collection is a 1927 Phantom I that appeared in the film Lawrence of Arabia and was driven by actor Peter O'Toole. This vehicle bridges automobile history with Hollywood cinema.
