Schloss Auhof

Schloss Auhof is a heritage château in the Dornach-Auhof district of Linz that serves today as the administration center of Johannes Kepler University. The building displays two distinct portals from different eras, reflecting the property's complex architectural evolution.

The property originated in 1350 under Konrad von Au and changed hands multiple times before the Starhemberg family acquired it in 1689. This acquisition brought architectural modifications that remain visible today.

The name reflects the Au family, who established the property in the 14th century. Today visitors encounter modern artworks scattered through the grounds, layering contemporary expression onto the historical setting.

The château sits centrally on the university campus and is easy to spot from outside, but functions primarily as an administrative building in private use. Visitors can freely explore the exterior and the surrounding park with its artworks and pond.

The park holds over 150 container plants, including protected species like plane trees and a sequoia that give the grounds a botanical character. A pond with a central island creates a quiet retreat within the busy university setting.
