Schloss Dachsberg

Schloss Dachsberg is a rectangular three-story building with four wings arranged around an economic courtyard and features an 18th-century facade. The structure underwent renovations in the mid-20th century and today functions as a school with modern facilities inside.

The original fortress, Veste Tachsperg, stood several hundred meters below the current location and was rebuilt on this site after a fire in 1672. The place has evolved from a fortress into a school building since that time.

The school takes the castle's name and draws students from across the region who live and study within its walls. The building serves as a key gathering place for the local community, where families have been sending their children to learn for over a century.

The building is today an active school with students and teachers present during the school year, so visits may be arranged by request. Visitors should expect to work around the school schedule and note that not all areas are open to the public.

During World War II, American artillery struck the building, causing damage that was later repaired. These marks from the conflict remind visitors of how much the region was affected by the fighting.
