Schloss Gamlitz, Medieval castle in Gamlitz, Austria
The three-story single-wing structure of Schloss Gamlitz stands among the vineyards of southern Styria, featuring vaulted rooms and an extensive wine cellar.
Built between 1111 and 1131 in the Gamlitzbach Valley, the castle passed through numerous owners, including the Sponheim counts and the St. Paul monastery.
The castle houses a wine museum displaying exhibits from the 1990 Styrian State Exhibition dedicated to wine culture in the region.
The castle functions as a hotel with eight double rooms, three apartments, and a restaurant, offering wine tastings and guided cellar tours.
During the 19th century, the castle served as a cavalry barracks before transforming into a modern hospitality establishment.
