Schloss Hohenstein

Schloss Hohenstein is a Renaissance castle perched on a hillside with fifteen rooms spread across multiple levels and surrounded by a historic landscape garden featuring an outdoor stage. The property offers five different event spaces and an onsite chapel.

The castle underwent major transformations throughout its history, particularly after World War I when the Barons of Imhof lost ownership. In the 1940s it was converted into a convalescent home.

The castle houses a restaurant serving regional Austrian dishes made from carefully selected ingredients, keeping a link to local food traditions alive.

The hilltop location means varied terrain and stairs are common, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The restaurant provides good views from different vantage points and is accessible from multiple entry points.

The restaurant is named Oskars after a former owner, Oskar Hacker, keeping a personal chapter of the castle's story alive. The outdoor stage in the park enabled cultural events across generations at this special location.
