Wetterkoglerhaus, Mountain hut at 1743 meters in Aspangberg-St. Peter, Austria.
The Wetterkoglerhaus is a mountain shelter located at 1743 meters on Hochwechsel, positioned between Lower Austria and Styria. The building contains sleeping quarters and a kitchen that serves visitors daily.
The mountain shelter was built by the Austrian Alpine Club to provide travelers with refuge and supplies in the mountains. Since then, it has served as an important stopping point for those exploring this high Alpine region.
The house serves traditional Austrian Alpine food, with the keeper preparing hearty regional dishes daily. Visitors can request vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options to suit their needs.
The shelter offers nine beds for hikers during the warmer months, from spring through autumn. Visitors can reach it either on foot via mountain trails or by driving the toll road that winds up the mountain.
From this high vantage point, visitors enjoy a complete 360-degree view across multiple mountain peaks in the region, including well-known summits like Semmering and Rax. On clear days, the view stretches across borders into neighboring countries.
