Schloss Traunsee, Historical castle in Altmünster, Austria.
Schloss Traunsee sits on the shore of Lake Traunsee with corner towers, steep pitched roofs, and a polygonal tower topped with a spire and lantern. The building now serves as a school and offers its decorated halls for events and celebrations.
Duke Philipp of Württemberg built the castle between 1872 and 1875 as a summer home for his wife, Archduchess Maria Theresia of Austria. The chapel was added afterward, from 1878 to 1880, reflecting the growing importance of the estate.
The chapel displays French Renaissance style and was designed by Heinrich von Ferstel. This architectural approach shaped how noble residences looked in Austria during that era.
The castle now serves as a school, so the interior is generally not open to regular visitors. Its decorated halls can be rented for private events like weddings and hold about 120 guests.
Inside is a ballroom with Italian silk wallpaper that shows the luxury of that era. There is also a marble terrace and a glass-roofed atrium used for celebrations.
