Saints Peter and Paul Church

Saints Peter and Paul Church in Filzmoos is a late Gothic parish church marked by a distinctive western tower with a pointed helmet roof. The interior features a single nave with rounded arch arcades that guide the eye toward the chancel, creating an ordered and harmonious space.

The church received its consecration by Bishop Bernhard von Kraiburg in 1474, while the western tower was completed in 1546 during the late Gothic period. This span of time shows how construction unfolded gradually, taking over 70 years to achieve its current form.

The Filzmooser Kindl, a depiction of the blessing infant Jesus surrounded by golden rays in a glass shrine, stands at the heart of devotion here. Visitors come to pray before this particular image and participate in a local religious practice that remains central to the community today.
