Schloss Herberstein, Medieval castle and art museum in Stubenberg, Austria
The castle stands on a rock formation within the Feistritz ravine, protected on three sides by natural barriers against potential invasions.
The initial structure, dating from 1300, transformed from a defensive fortress named Herwigstein into a Renaissance residential complex during the 16th century.
The Gironcoli Museum inside the castle exhibits numerous works by Austrian contemporary artists, including substantial collections of Bruno Gironcoli sculptures.
The castle opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM until September 30th, with admission fees of 21.50 euros for adults and 11 euros for children.
The castle grounds include a zoo with the largest cheetah enclosure in Europe, featuring a modified ski-lift system for feeding demonstrations.
