Rotenkogel

Rotenkogel is an alpine summit reaching 2762 meters in the Granatspitz Group located in East Tyrol. The terrain features steep rock formations with clearly marked trails that wind through the high mountain landscape.

The summit was marked with a metal cross installed by an East Tyrol male choir as a symbol of mountain tradition. This distinctive feature reflects the region's long history of alpine enthusiasm.

The summit serves as a waypoint in the regional hiking network and draws climbers from nearby communities who maintain its traditional routes. Local mountaineers treat the paths as part of their shared outdoor heritage.

The route begins from Kuenzer Alm at 1769 meters with marked trails and safety ropes in exposed sections. Visitors should prepare for Alpine conditions and changing weather, as the elevation and open terrain demand proper equipment.

The ascent passes through light block terrain and avalanche barriers, adding technical interest to the climb. From the top, the Großglockner rises as a neighboring peak visible directly across the landscape.
