Montforthaus Feldkirch, Cultural center in Feldkirch, Austria
The Montforthaus is a modern cultural center in Feldkirch built on a four-story layout with foyers, galleries, and a large glass atrium at its core. The structure contains two main halls of different sizes, several conference rooms, a restaurant, and a roof deck overlooking the town.
A Volkshalle building from 1926 originally stood at this location before being destroyed by lightning in 1973. Following that disaster, the site underwent several reconstructions until the current structure was completed in 2015.
The building is named after the Counts of Feldkirch and serves as a gathering place for music, theater, and cultural events today. Visitors come to experience both regional and international performances that define the region's cultural life.
The center has multiple entrances that provide good access to different areas, along with parking spaces for cars and bicycles. It is helpful to arrive early before larger events to understand the space and its various functions.
The building features over 300 square meters (3,200 sq ft) of movable interior surfaces that optimize acoustics for different types of performances. These adjustable elements allow the halls to switch quickly from concerts to theater productions without altering the overall structure.
