Eiblkogel, Mountain summit in Übelbach, Austria
Eiblkogel is a mountain in the Gleinalpe region featuring a broad grass-covered ridge that stretches across the landscape. The terrain transitions from forested lower slopes to open alpine grassland near the top.
The mountain served as part of historical trade routes, with the Kreuzsattel passage providing an alternative crossing for merchants moving through the region. This connection linked valley communities across the Alpine terrain.
The Eiblkogel ridge carries a hiking trail that is part of the European long-distance path E6, the Zentralalpenweg and the Nord-Süd-Weitwanderweg. The route crosses the broad grassy back of the mountain between the Kreuzsattel (1583 m) and the Polstersattel (1505 m). The name Lammalm is used inconsistently, for the alm itself or for the whole ridge.
The route climbs from Übelbach using forest paths that gradually lead toward the summit. Sturdy footwear and a map are helpful since portions of the route lack clear markings.
The mountain features two distinct summits rather than a single peak, creating an unusual profile. Hikers often discover the second summit only after reaching what appears to be the main top.
