Eiblkogel

Eiblkogel is a mountain in the Gleinalpe region featuring a broad grass-covered ridge that stretches across the landscape. The terrain transitions from forested lower slopes to open alpine grassland near the top.

The mountain served as part of historical trade routes, with the Kreuzsattel passage providing an alternative crossing for merchants moving through the region. This connection linked valley communities across the Alpine terrain.

The Eiblkogel summit forms part of the European long-distance path E6, connecting with both the Central Alpine Path and North-South Long-Distance Path networks.

The route climbs from Übelbach using forest paths that gradually lead toward the summit. Sturdy footwear and a map are helpful since portions of the route lack clear markings.

The mountain features two distinct summits rather than a single peak, creating an unusual profile. Hikers often discover the second summit only after reaching what appears to be the main top.
