Bretterwandspitze

Bretterwandspitze is a mountain summit located in the Granatspitz Group within the Eastern Tyrolean Alps near Matrei. The peak rises to approximately 2,900 meters and forms part of a rugged alpine terrain with steep rock faces on several sides.

This peak has been explored by mountaineers for centuries, with various routes established to reach the summit over time. The development of climbing paths reflects the long tradition of alpine mountaineering in the Hohe Tauern region.

The mountain serves as a central reference point for East Tyrolean communities, reflecting the regional connection between residents and their surrounding peaks.

The main hiking route begins from the Glanz parking area and follows a marked trail to the summit. Visitors should prepare for steep sections and changing weather conditions typical of higher altitude alpine terrain.

The mountain features distinct rock formations along its southeastern flank, where the Bretterwand drops steeply from the Bretterwandhöhe ridge.
