Maxingvilla, Swiss-style chalet in Hietzing, Austria

The Maxingvilla featured architectural elements of Swiss chalets with wooden decorative details and steep-angled roofs in the outskirts of Vienna.

Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian commissioned the construction of Maxingvilla in 1849, which opened with a ceremony on July 6, 1850.

Johann Strauss composed and conducted the Maxing-Tänze opus 79 waltz specifically for the villa's opening celebration in 1850.

The foundations of the former villa remain visible within Maxingpark, accessible through the Maxingstrasse street in Vienna's 13th district.

The villa stood between Hietzing Cemetery and a back entrance to Schönbrunn Palace Park until its demolition in 1955 due to structural deterioration.
