Seepark, Lakeside recreational park in Donaustadt, Vienna, Austria
Seepark is a recreational park along the shores of Lake Seestadt Aspern in Vienna. With three peninsulas and multiple viewpoints spread along about 750 meters of shoreline, it provides access to large water areas for swimming and exploration.
The site was formerly part of Aspern Airport, which operated from 1912 to 1977 as Austria's largest airport. After closure, the area was converted into a traffic training facility before eventually becoming the foundation for this park.
The park includes play areas with water-themed names that reflect the neighborhood's bond with the nearby lake. This design choice shows how important the water has become to daily life in this district.
Two pebble beach areas provide places to swim, with the water reaching depths of up to 10 meters in some spots. The park is easily accessible and well suited for visits at any time of year, especially if you want to explore the various paths and viewpoints.
A skate park sits beneath the U2 subway station, offering an unexpected activity option in the middle of a waterside setting. This mix of calm lakeside atmosphere with energetic skate culture creates an unusual combination for this area.
