Schloss Essling, Cultural heritage castle in Donaustadt, Austria.

Schloss Essling is a castle in Donaustadt in Vienna's 22nd district, located on Esslinger Hauptstrasse and displaying a rectangular structure with traditional vaulted ceilings. Today the building operates as a restaurant and event venue, with space for up to 50 guests.

The castle was founded in 1287 by the Lords of Eslarn and passed to Baron Teufel in 1579. After suffering severe damage during the Battle of Aspern in 1809, the building was reconstructed.

The name Eßling, first recorded in a 1287 charter as a fief of the Lords of Eslarn, survives in the street address Eßlinger Hauptstraße 81–87. The estate passed through the Teufel, Kinsky and Habsburg family fund owners, and the plain two-storey building with baroque groin vaults on the ground floor is now a protected monument in Donaustadt.

The castle is located in Vienna's 22nd district and is easily accessible for visitors planning to dine or hold events. It is helpful to book ahead, especially if you plan to visit with a larger group.

Northwest of the castle stands the Schüttkasten, a three-storey grain store from the second quarter of the 18th century. French troops occupied it during the 1809 Battle of Aspern and it was fiercely contested. A wall painting of a female reaper survives on its gable wall, and inside the wooden post structure with its grain floors is intact. Since 1991 it has served as a branch of the Aspern Essling 1809 special museum.
