Pfarrkirche Hl. Nikolaus

The Parish Church of St. Nicholas is a Catholic church in Damüls situated at about 1,429 meters (4,688 feet) elevation with Gothic architecture and a baroque bell chamber. The building features pointed arch windows along its south side and exemplifies careful religious architectural design from this period.

Construction of the current building began in 1484 under master builder Rolle Maiger, replacing an earlier church that stood on the site since 1392. The new structure was consecrated in 1495 and has served as the religious center of the community ever since.

The interior walls display 15th-century frescoes showing scenes from the Passion of Christ with striking detail. The ceiling paintings continue this religious narrative, illustrating episodes from Mary's life throughout the worship space.

Access can be arranged through the Damüls municipality, which provides information about visiting hours and services. Visitors should note that religious observances and ceremonies may limit access at certain times.

The high altar dates from 1733 and blends later craftsmanship with older elements including statues of God the Father and the Archangel Michael. This mix of different periods shows how the space evolved over generations through various artistic additions.
