Hügelgräberfeld Starzinger Holz

The Hügelgräberfeld Starzinger Holz is a Bronze Age burial ground covering a wooded area and containing around 120 preserved mounds. These earthen structures sit near the Naarn River, which shaped settlement patterns in this landscape.

This burial ground dates back to the Bronze Age and was later concealed by forest growth until archaeological work revealed its existence. Research shows that the site was used for burials over an extended period.

The burial mounds show how Bronze Age communities treated their dead and what objects they placed in graves as part of their funeral rites. Pottery and artifacts discovered here reveal the daily beliefs and practices of ancient people who lived near the river.
