Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt, Wald, Pyhra, Catholic parish church in Wald, Pyhra, Austria

Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt is a neo-Gothic Catholic parish church next to Schloss Wald in the Schlosssiedlung Wald, Pyhra. It has a nave and a south choir under a saddle roof and half-cone roof, with a north tower topped by a two-storey belfry and a pointed roof. Buttresses and pointed-arch windows line the exterior, and the interior shows an open trapezoidal timber roof structure from 1874.

Wald was a parish localia of the present-day filial church of Außerkasten (St. Peter am Anger) in 1837. It was elevated to a parish in 1840. The church, built in 1837, was consecrated in 1838. A sacristy was added on the east side in 1866, and an access to the oratory was built in 1869. From 1874 the church received new vaults and furnishings; the tower top was added in 1878, and the church was restored in 1995.

The church keeps memorial plaques for Countess Sophie Harnoncourt-Unverzagt (1859) and Franziska Tumma (1911) in the oratory, and west of the nave a gravestone for Count Hubert Harnoncourt-Unverzagt from around 1850, moved here from the cemetery. The carved crib by Josef Rifesser dates from 1911.

The church stands beside Schloss Wald in the Schlosssiedlung Wald, in the market town of Pyhra, Lower Austria. It is a consecrated parish church, so visits depend on parish use; inquire locally about access. The building is a protected monument, restored in 1995.

The church interior has no vault: since 1874 the nave is covered by an open trapezoidal wooden roof structure after the damaged vault was removed. The walls and ceilings are clad in wood, partly carved, with twisted columns on corbels.
