Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt, Wald, Pyhra

The Assumption of Mary Parish Church displays a balanced architectural design with defined lines and restrained decorative elements throughout its structure.

Originally established in 1335 as St. George's Chapel within Wald Castle, the current church building was constructed during 1837 and 1838.

The interior contains Renaissance burial monuments of the Greiß noble family, including a large 1572 gravestone depicting Christoph von Greiß with his wife and brothers.

Located at coordinates 48.12925, 15.699, the parish office maintains regular hours at Hauptstraße 17 and accepts visitors under supervision of Monsignor Markus Heinz.

In 1463, local residents used the church as a defensive structure against raiding soldiers, transforming the religious building into a temporary fortress.
