Pfarrkirche Gansbach, Gothic parish church in Dunkelsteinerwald, Austria.

Pfarrkirche Gansbach is a two-nave hall church raised on a retaining wall at the northeastern edge of Gansbach, above a widened through-road. Its low, broad nave with a hipped-gable roof faces a tall five-eighth chancel with 14th-century pointed windows, and a massive two-storey tower with coupled sound windows and a tent roof stands in the southern chancel corner. Two side stairways with pillar walls lead up, flanked by a crowned Madonna and a St John Nepomuk statue.

The parish was founded around 1250 and incorporated into Göttweig Abbey. The present chancel dates from the 14th century, while the nave and south tower are essentially 15th-century. The church was rebuilt from 1664, restored in 1855–1860, 1954/1955 and 1998/1999 outside, and inside from 1973.

The high altar, made around 1700, is attributed to the workshop of Martin Johann Schmidt, known as Kremser Schmidt; its altarpiece of the martyrdom of St Bartholomew was painted by Paulus Haubenstricker in 1781. The side altar holds a 1779 painting of the Instruction of Mary by Schmidt, transferred here from Aggsbach Charterhouse. The parish is incorporated into Göttweig Abbey, whose coat of arms is painted on the triumphal arch.

The church stands on the northeastern edge of Gansbach, elevated behind a retaining wall above the widened through-road. Two side stairways with pillar walls lead up to it: the left one dates from the 18th century, the right one was added symmetrically in the 20th century. On the high pedestals there are a crowned Madonna with Child on the right and St John Nepomuk on the left.

Two baroque statues flank the two stairways up to the churchyard: on the right a crowned Madonna with Child on a high pedestal, on the left St John Nepomuk. The left stairway with its pier walls dates from the 18th century; the right one was added symmetrically in the 20th century.
