Taxispalais – Kunsthalle Tirol

The Taxispalais showcases changing exhibitions across 500 square meters of space with minimalist interiors designed to highlight artworks through natural lighting.

The building transformed from a tax office in 1911 to an art space in 1964, receiving a complete renovation in 1999 that earned an Austrian builders' prize.

The gallery presents three to four exhibitions annually, featuring works from regional and international artists while focusing on postcolonial and feminist themes.

Located within Palais Fugger Taxis in central Innsbruck, the gallery maintains regular operating hours and offers guided tours in multiple languages.

In 1973, Taxispalais hosted the first exhibition of Gerhard Richter's works in Austria, marking a milestone in the country's contemporary art scene.
