Vienna Marriott Hotel, hotel in Vienna, Austria
The Vienna Marriott Hotel is a full-service hotel on Parkring, in the first district of Vienna, set directly across from the Stadtpark. The building offers rooms on multiple floors with views of either the park or the surrounding streets, along with restaurants, a heated indoor pool, sauna, and a spa area.
The hotel opened in the 1970s, making it one of the first international chain hotels to establish itself in the center of Vienna. It has gone through several rounds of renovation since then while keeping its position on the Ringstrasse.
The hotel stands on the Ringstrasse, the grand boulevard that defines the face of central Vienna and is lined with opera houses, museums, and government buildings. Stepping outside places guests immediately in the middle of one of the most recognizable stretches of the city.
The nearest metro entrance is a short walk away and connects to most parts of the city as well as to the main train station. Many of the main sights are within walking distance, since the first district is compact and easy to navigate on foot.
The Stadtpark across the street is the resting place of Johann Strauss the Younger, whose gilded statue has stood there since 1921. Guests who take a morning walk through the park pass one of the most photographed monuments in Vienna without even planning to.
