Živinice, Industrial center in Tuzla Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Živinice is a town in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, located south of the cantonal capital Tuzla. The municipal area covers a wide territory with residential neighborhoods, industrial zones, and agricultural land connected by a network of local roads.
The first Slavic settlers reached the area in the 7th century and established themselves on what is now the town territory. The year 1764 marks the first written mention in Ottoman documents, where the settlement was recorded under the name Uskopči.
The name Uskopči, under which the settlement was once known, comes from Ottoman administrative records of the 18th century. Local residents refer to the town by its current name and use both the older neighborhoods and the newer housing districts that appeared after the Yugoslav era ended.
The town center is best reached by regional roads running south from Tuzla. Different parts of the municipality are spread across the territory, so it helps to know your destination before setting out.
The Ciljuge 2 industrial zone has gained a reputation for its short processing times, as permits are often completed within three business days. This speed in administrative procedures is uncommon in the region and attracts investors from several countries.
