Gopalganj District

Gopalganj District is an administrative region in Dhaka Division located in central Bangladesh. The area sits on fertile land crossed by four major rivers that shape its landscape.

The district was established as an independent administrative region in 1984 after separating from Faridpur subdivision. This administrative reorganization marked an important change in how the region was governed.

The district maintains traditional musical forms like Sarigan and Gambhira songs that have been passed down through generations. These folk melodies are heard during local celebrations and gatherings throughout the year.

The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather is dry and comfortable. Local buses and boats are the main ways to get around the region.

The district is a center of rice and fish farming, with about two-thirds of the population working in agriculture. This farming-based economy shapes daily life and fills the landscape with fields and water channels.
