Gopalganj District, Administrative district in Dhaka Division, Bangladesh
The district spans 1468 square kilometers between the Madhumati, Hunda, Ghagar, and Old Kumar rivers in central Bangladesh.
Gopalganj District emerged as an independent administrative region in 1984 after separating from the Faridpur subdivision of Bangladesh.
The district maintains traditional musical forms including Sarigan and Gambhira songs, along with folk rhymes passed through generations.
The region contains 23 colleges, 188 secondary schools, and 786 primary schools, with an overall literacy rate of 58.1 percent.
Agriculture employs 61.75 percent of the population, with rice cultivation in the fertile lands between the district's four major rivers.
