Lobbes Abbey

Lobbes Abbey is a Benedictine monastery with a collegiate church that originated in the 7th century and underwent later modifications. The site sits on elevated terrain above the Sambre River and displays architectural layers from multiple periods.

The abbey was founded around 650 and grew into an important monastic center in the Hainaut region. During medieval times, it served as a center for learning and religious education.
