Haren, Administrative district in northeast Brussels, Belgium
Haren is an administrative district in northeast Brussels, located at the edge of the Brussels-Capital Region. The area features multiple railway stations and industrial zones that connect it to other parts of Belgium.
The area was first documented around 1050 as a villa in manuscripts about Saint Trudo and remained independent for centuries. It merged into the Brussels municipality in 1921.
The Community Centre on Rue Cortenbach serves as a gathering space where residents meet and participate in regular events and seasonal celebrations. It reflects daily neighborhood life, bringing people together for shared activities and traditions.
Three railway stations serve the area: Buda on line 25, Haren on line 26, and Haren-South on line 36. These stations provide direct connections to major cities and transportation hubs throughout Belgium.
The district maintains an equal balance of Dutch and French speakers, setting it apart from other predominantly French-speaking areas of Brussels. This linguistic diversity shapes everyday life and communication throughout the neighborhood.
