Uplace

Uplace is a real estate development in Mechelen that brings together shops, offices, and recreational facilities in one location. The site mixes different uses and functions to serve both businesses and visitors.

The project began in the early 2000s as a plan to modernize Mechelen's commercial areas and went through several development phases. It later continued under a different name after legal matters were resolved.

The development integrates spaces for Belgian businesses, art exhibitions, and community gatherings to strengthen local connections within the Mechelen area.

The site sits near main roads and offers parking, as well as convenient access to buses and trains. Getting there by car or public transport is straightforward from different parts of the city.

The original plan underwent major changes after years of legal discussions and was given a new name. This shift also altered what the space offers, with fewer parking spots and greater focus on manufacturing and retail.
