Basilica of Our Lady

The Basilica of Our Lady features a 64-meter Gothic tower, three-aisled nave, side chapels, and vaulted ceilings adorned with stained-glass windows and sculptures.

Construction of the basilica started in 1240, replacing earlier religious structures from the 4th century, and received its papal designation as a minor basilica in 1931.

The church houses a collection of religious art, including a 15th-century walnut statue of the Virgin Mary and medieval altar carvings in its treasury.

Visitors can access the basilica daily from 9 AM to 5 PM without charge, while tower climb experiences require advance reservations.

The belfry, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, functions both as a bell tower and an observation point over the Hesbaye region.
