Ghent City Hall, Gothic and Renaissance town hall in Ghent, Belgium.

The municipal building features two distinct sections: the Hoogpoort side with Late Gothic elements and the Botermarkt side with Renaissance architecture incorporating Doric columns.

Construction of the city hall started in 1519 under architects Dominikus De Waghemakere and Rombout II Keldermans, with completion of the initial structure in 1539.

The exterior displays numerous statues representing the Counts of Flanders, added in the early 1900s to commemorate the regional historical figures.

The building contains 51 rooms including the Wedding Chapel, which serves as the primary venue for marriage ceremonies in the city of Ghent.

The facade includes a blue-and-white striped drainpipe, with interpretations of its colors ranging from water symbolism to local sports team representation.
