Albertcentrum, Office tower in Charleroi, Belgium.
The Albertcentrum is a modern office tower in Charleroi with 25 floors rising 82 meters high. It contains office spaces with large glass windows across every floor, making it the tallest building in both the city and Hainaut province.
The building was constructed between 1964 and 1967 by architects Jacques Depelsenaire, Paul Hayot, and Michel Marchal, opening on July 10, 1967. It was built on the site of the former House of Corporations that once occupied this location.
The tower marks a turning point in how Charleroi developed, shifting away from older building styles toward modern commercial spaces. It stands where a traditional guild building once stood, showing how the city's appearance changed over time.
The building sits in central Charleroi on Petite Rue and is easy to spot from the street. Visitors can explore the lobby area and lower sections, though access to upper office floors may be limited.
The building was originally planned as a mixed-use project with shops, services, and apartments inside. The plans changed during development and it became exclusively office space instead.
