Kallosluis

Kallosluis is a sea lock in Beveren that allows large vessels to enter the port while accommodating their size. The structure manages water levels efficiently to move different ship types through its chambers.

The lock was constructed in 1979 and served as the main gateway to the Waaslandhaven section of Antwerp Port until 2016. After that year, a newer facility took over the primary function of handling most port traffic.

The lock's administration building has a cafeteria where port workers and visitors eat together while watching ships pass through. This creates a natural meeting spot for people connected to the harbor's daily operations.

The lock is accessible to visitors during operating hours, though some areas may be restricted for safety reasons. It is wise to check current conditions before visiting to ensure a smooth experience.
