Flône Abbey, Religious complex in Amay, Belgium

The abbey stands on the left bank of the Meuse River with the church, convent, and junction tower forming the main architectural elements.

Three knight brothers established the religious settlement in 1075 on land received from Henry I of Verdun, Bishop of Liège.

The Church of Saint-Matthieu contains five black marble tombstones, 17th-century baptismal fonts, and paintings depicting Saint Matthew and Saint Augustine.

The abbey functions as an educational center with both elementary and secondary schools, serving more than 1500 students combined.

The church houses a reliquary of Saint Denise containing crystallized blood and earth from Christian martyrs in Roman catacombs.
