Vogelsanck Castle, Medieval castle in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium

The three-winged castle stands on an island surrounded by water and features iron sandstone walls with a pronounced donjon tower.

From 1308 to 1795, the castle functioned as the governmental center for the territory of Vogelsanck, overseeing five current Belgian villages.

The castle grounds include an English garden and an arboretum established in the late 18th century, containing 150 different tree species.

The private castle sits north of the N72 road between Hasselt and Beringen, with its estate divided into two sections by this route.

The de Villenfagne de Vogelsanck family has maintained continuous ownership of the castle since 1741, preserving its architectural heritage.
