The domain is a protected monument centred on Huizingen Castle, a pale-stone château with a steep slate roof, dormers and a slim conical-roofed tower beside it. The castle stands at the end of a lawn behind a tall deciduous tree. The surrounding grounds were laid out as a provincial sports and recreation park, with an athletics track, tennis courts, a playground, an animal park and a pond at the foot of the castle used for rowing boats and pedalos. The outdoor swimming pool closed permanently in 2022.

The domain is run by the province of Flemish Brabant as a family recreation park. Visitors today use the athletics track, several tennis courts, a playground and an animal park, and can take rowing boats or pedalos on the pond at the foot of Huizingen Castle.
