De Ryck brewery

De Ryck brewery is a protected heritage site in Herzele that operates in a historic building with traditional brewing equipment, producing eight different types of Belgian specialty beers. The production uses spring water and follows proven recipes that have been used since the brewery's founding.

The brewery was founded in 1886 by Gustave De Ryck under the name 'Brewery the golden eagle'. The building remains at its original location near Herzele church and has been operating continuously since then.

Anne De Ryck runs this family business today as a brewing engineer in the fourth generation. The brewery preserves local recipes and traditional production methods that have been passed down through the generations.

The brewery store is open to visitors Monday through Saturday and offers personalized six-packs, crates, and beer gifts from their complete product range. Staff members can provide information about the different beer types and the production process.

The brewery maintains its own yeast culture that has been used since its founding and shapes the taste of its beers. A specialty is the Gouden Arend beer, which was created for the brewery's 125th anniversary celebration.
