Midi Fair, Traveling carnival on Boulevard du Midi, Brussels, Belgium
Midi Fair stretches along Boulevard du Midi between Porte de Hal and Porte d'Anderlecht with more than 130 different rides, games, and food stalls spread across the space. The event occupies a wide section of the boulevard closed to regular traffic, following the traditional layout of a traveling carnival.
The fair was founded in 1880 and has remained the largest annual carnival event in Brussels ever since. Over generations, it has continued to operate through changing times while maintaining its character as a summer tradition.
The fair draws people from different neighborhoods who share in traditional fairground games and local Belgian food. It creates a social gathering where families and friends build shared memories through common experiences.
The fair runs from mid-July to late August, opening at 1 PM on weekdays until midnight. Weekend hours extend until 1 AM, giving visitors flexibility in when they visit.
The layout was designed so visitors can see along the length of the boulevard and across to different attractions. This openness gives the fair a less cramped feel compared to typical carnival spaces.
