Le Botanique

Le Botanique is a neoclassical orangery and cultural center in the Saint-Josse-ten-Noode neighborhood featuring a steel frame structure with glass panels. A central cupola allows natural light to illuminate the interior, while the building combines botanical and cultural functions in a single space.

The building was constructed between 1826 and 1829 by architects Tilman-François Suys and Pierre-François Gineste during the United Kingdom of the Netherlands period. Its creation marked an important moment for the development of botanical collections in European cities.

The building has served as a gathering place in Brussels since its early days, where people come together for exhibitions and events throughout the year. This dual role as both a botanical space and cultural venue makes it a meeting point for diverse communities.
