Schaerbeek Sports Palace, Indoor sports venue in Schaerbeek, Belgium
The Schaerbeek Sports Palace was a large indoor sports complex with a perforated metal-clad front facade and expansive window openings. These openings connected the interior spaces with outdoor courtyards, creating a modern and integrated design.
The facility opened its doors on October 5, 1913, and served as the city's leading sports center for decades. It remained operational until November 1966, when it eventually underwent demolition.
The venue hosted numerous cycling competitions, including the Six Days of Brussels, plus boxing matches, circus shows, fencing tournaments, and indoor football games.
The indoor arena could accommodate about 15,000 spectators and was equipped to host major sporting events and large public gatherings across the Brussels region. This capacity and flexibility made it ideal for hosting different types of competitions.
After the demolition in 1972, the Brusilia residential tower replaced the sports palace, marking the transformation of this athletic landmark.
