Château de Chokier

The castle stands on a limestone promontory, featuring a central building with a classical facade overlooking the Meuse valley and two lateral wings.

Built in the 13th century by the Rulant de Fontaine family, the fortress withstood multiple attacks before being partially burned by Hutois forces in the late 14th century.

The castle received Napoleon Bonaparte as a guest when Louis Henri Loison owned the property in 1815, marking its significance in European military history.

A servant revealed the existence of Marie de Senzeille's blood-written will in a prayer book, documenting her murder by her husband Beljoyeuse in 1602.
