Château Ramet

Château Ramet is a castle in Ivoz-Ramet featuring a three-story main building with five bays and a prominent round tower on its west side. The structure is surrounded by a moat that visitors cross via a stone bridge to reach the farmstead area.

Construction of the castle dates to the 13th century when Jean de Ramet, son of Guillaume de Flémalle, built the first fortress. Over time the structure underwent multiple transformations, with upper sections rebuilt in 1724 using brick and stone frames.

The castle takes its name from the family that first established it and remains a landmark tied to local heritage. Its fortifications and walls reflect how medieval lords once lived and protected their lands.

The castle is located on Chaussée de Ramet and is easily spotted from the surrounding countryside. Visitors should note that the property sits within a working farmstead with outbuildings, so respecting its private nature is important.

The castle displays a striking shift in building materials between its older and newer sections. Lower levels use limestone and sandstone blocks, while the 18th century upper portion features brick with cut stone frames.
