Monument to Europe, Monument at Belgium-Germany-Luxembourg tripoint, Belgium

The Monument to Europe consists of five upright megalithic stones, each bearing a memorial plaque to a European figure: Konrad Adenauer (Germany), Paul-Henri Spaak (Belgium), Joseph Bech (Luxembourg) and Christian Pineau (France). The stones are of different rocks — bog sandstone from the Lüneburger Heide, blue slate from Vielsalm, sandstone from the Müllerthal and slate from the Vosges. It stands on the Belgian-Luxembourg border about 140 metres west of the Belgium-Germany-Luxembourg tripoint in the Our.

The monument was built in 1977 during a period of intensified cooperation between the three nations. This coincided with Europe's movement toward stronger shared institutions and economic ties.

The five upright megalithic stones stood for the five countries of the European Community at the time; each carries a memorial plaque to a key European: Konrad Adenauer for Germany, Paul-Henri Spaak for Belgium, Joseph Bech for Luxembourg and Christian Pineau for France. The stone types come from across Europe, such as Vosges slate for France and sandstone from the Müllerthal for Luxembourg.

The monument stands on the Belgian-Luxembourg border, about 140 metres west of the tripoint in the Our river, beside the Georges-Wagner-Brücke. Ouren lies roughly one kilometre north, the Luxembourg village of Lieler about two kilometres southwest. The ground is a low base of smaller rocks and earth, with six flagpoles to the left of the slab.

The monument is made of five upright megalithic stones, each from a different region and bearing a plaque to a European figure: Konrad Adenauer (Lüneburg Heath sandstone, Germany), Paul-Henri Spaak (Vielsalm slate, Belgium), Joseph Bech (Müllerthal sandstone, Luxembourg) and Christian Pineau (Vosges slate, France). The fifth stone is not described in the sources.
