Dawson Duel, Steel racing roller coaster in Bellewaerde, Belgium.
Dawson Duel is a steel roller coaster with two parallel tracks stretching 490 meters through Bellewaerde amusement park. Both trains climb an artificial slope and race down side by side, creating the sensation of competing against another ride.
Construction began in September 2016 and opened to the public on May 5, 2017. The coaster represented a significant expansion of the park's offerings.
The name comes from the Dawson City Yukon Quest, a famous sled dog race in Canada. Riders experience a head-to-head competition on two side-by-side tracks, with the thrill of racing against another train at the center.
The ride lasts several minutes with maximum excitement from racing alongside the other train. It is best to secure loose items or store bags before boarding, as the ride involves significant movement.
The two trains depart nearly simultaneously and reach matching speeds, creating genuine head-to-head races. Because the trains are fully synchronized, the outcome of each race remains unpredictable and surprising for every rider.
