Le Hérou

Le Hérou is a rock formation in the Belgian Ardennes with steep cliffs and natural stone structures rising from the forested landscape. The rocks display layered formations and varied surfaces shaped by weathering and geological processes.

The formation developed over millions of years through erosion and geological processes that shaped the entire Ardenne mountain range. These natural forces continuously carved the distinctive shapes visible today.

The site serves as a meeting point for local nature clubs and educational groups studying regional geology and environmental conservation.

Multiple marked hiking paths lead to the formation with parking areas and information boards at main access points. The trails are accessible to visitors of different abilities, though some sections are steep and rocky.

The rocks contain several natural cavities and overhangs that shelter specific bird species and small mammals. Visitors can observe these inhabited areas and learn about the specialized wildlife.
