Hotel Haerens, Art Deco residence in Uccle, Belgium.
Hotel Haerens is a residential building designed in the Art Deco style featuring a striking central circular reception hall topped with a dome that floods the interior with natural light. The spaces showcase fine marble details and hammered wrought iron craftsmanship, notably at the entrance door facing Avenue Brugmann.
The building was commissioned in 1928 by engineer Robert Haerens and designed by architect Antoine Courtens, drawing influence from American architectural traditions. The original structure with separate living quarters and distinct entrances was later converted into office spaces and underwent major restoration work in 2009.
The architectural design reflects the influence of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, introduced to Courtens through his connection with Victor Horta.
The building is now divided into office spaces and not open to general visitors. The exterior is visible from the street, allowing you to appreciate the Art Deco architecture and details from outside.
The building includes intricate marble work and hammered wrought iron designs, particularly notable in the entrance door on the Brugmann avenue side.
