Tank memorial, Tank memorial in La Gleize, Belgium
The Tank Memorial features a prominent Tiger II tank positioned in front of the Historical Museum December 1944 on Rue de l'Eglise in La Gleize.
During the Battle of the Bulge in 1944, this Tiger II tank, designated as number 213, belonged to Obersturmführer Dollinger of the 1st SS Panzer Regiment.
The memorial stands as a testament to military history, with inscriptions honoring 40 million casualties from World War II between 1940 and 1945.
Visitors can access the memorial site daily and combine their visit with the Historical Museum December 1944, which displays military artifacts and equipment.
In July 1945, local resident Jenny Geenen-Dewez acquired the abandoned Tiger II tank through an unexpected exchange for a bottle of cognac.
