Botevgrad

Botevgrad is a municipal center in western Bulgaria nestled in an elliptical valley within the Western Stara Planina mountains. The city is shaped by industrial manufacturing, with major facilities operated by Sensata Technologies, GE Pharmaceuticals, and Siemens.

The settlement was originally called Samundzhievo before being granted town status in 1865. The current name Botevgrad was adopted in 1934 to honor revolutionary leader Hristo Botev.

The Church of the Ascension of Christ and the Dormition of the Mother of God Church are places where locals gather for worship and mark important moments in the community calendar. These two buildings shape the spiritual life of the city.

The city is easily explored on foot since main points of interest are fairly close together and most facilities are in the central area. Those interested in the surrounding landscape can access hiking trails in the nearby Stara Planina mountains.

The basketball team BC Balkan Botevgrad has won multiple championships and remains a source of local pride. The team's success reflects the city's connection to sports and community spirit.
