Tran gorge

The Erma River has carved through limestone foundations creating a 2.8-kilometer gorge with steep walls reaching 120 meters in height at its narrowest section.

In the early 20th century, workers excavated a 200-meter tunnel under Zhilav Kamak rock for a railway line connecting Tran with Tsaribrod.

The neighboring town of Pernik holds the International Festival of Masquerade Games Surva, celebrating regional folklore traditions throughout the year.

The eco-trail starts at a parking area equipped with gazebos, benches, bathrooms, and vendors selling local elderberry products.

Two prominent rock formations, known as the Church and Tough Stone, mark the entrance to the gorge, rising dramatically above the river Erma.
