Ruy, Mountain range in Kraishte region, Serbia and Bulgaria
Ruy is a mountain range that stretches roughly 12 kilometers from northwest to southeast along the border region. Its steep slopes descend sharply toward the Tran valley and the Erma river below.
The mountain was established as a historical border marker through pyramid Number 210, which designates the boundary between two nations. This natural landmark has served as a geographical reference point for territorial divisions.
The mountain landscape influenced local communities in both Serbia and Bulgaria, with traditional grazing practices maintained in its high-altitude pastures.
The best time to visit is during warmer months when trails are easily accessible. Multiple routes near Tran municipality offer various difficulty levels for different hiking experience.
The rocks contain deposits of lead, silver, and copper ores within geological formations of Proterozoic gneiss and Paleozoic granites. These mineral reserves have attracted human interest in the region for centuries.
