Kopren, Mountain summit in Chiprovtsi, Bulgaria and Serbia

Kopren is a mountain summit at approximately 1964 meters that forms the natural border between Bulgaria and Serbia in the western Balkan range. Several marked hiking trails lead from mountain huts to the peak, with the eastern side featuring steep rocky slopes.

The mountain once held a military border post on the Bulgarian side, where structures from that era remain as ruins today. This past reflects a time when cross-border movement was heavily monitored between the two nations.

The mountain draws hikers from Bulgaria and Serbia who meet along the border ridge to explore the shared landscape. This natural boundary has become a place where outdoor communities from both nations come together.

The best time to visit is during warmer months when trails are clear of snow and easier to navigate. Bring sturdy hiking boots and check weather conditions before heading out, as the mountain's elevation can bring sudden changes.

The mountain is known for its waterfall systems, particularly the Kopren Falls, which can be seen along hiking circuits on both sides. These natural flows create scenic viewpoints that many visitors overlook while focusing on reaching the summit.

Elevation above the sea: 1,964.4 m
