Kopren Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Stara Planina mountain range, Serbia.
Kopren Waterfall is a mountain waterfall in the Stara Planina range that drops roughly 100 meters through successive cascades. The main drop feeds into a second cascade below, creating a layered water system fed by the Dabidžin stream.
The waterfall was scientifically measured and documented starting in 2011, shifting understanding of major water features in the Serbian mountains. Prior knowledge of waterfalls in this region was limited to much smaller examples.
The waterfalls hold significance for people exploring the Stara Planina mountains and are known locally through hiking and outdoor communities. Visitors come to experience the raw power of falling water and the remote character of these mountain streams.
Spring offers the best water flow and viewing conditions when snow melt feeds the system, making the cascades most powerful. Marked trails from Dojkinci village lead to the site and sturdy footwear is essential for the hike.
Below the main cascade sits an unmeasured second waterfall nearly as tall as the upper drop, creating a rare double-stage system. This configuration shows the full force of the mountain stream compressed into successive stages.
